Art Williams graduated from UTS and went on to work for the Dominion Bank. He enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps in 1917, training at Deseronto, Ontario and at Camp Borden. During training he showed a talent for aerial gunnery, and after receiving his wings he became an instructor in that field, teaching at Camp Borden. On the morning of 18 September 1917, he was making a training flight with a cadet when an aircraft from another squadron crashed into his machine, taking off one wing and killing him instantly. Members of the Royal Flying Corps served as pallbearers at his funeral. He is buried in Saint James’s Cemetery, Toronto.
